a friend of mine used to tell anyone who called she was a witch.i used to hear others talking about her, they would'nt call on ANYONE who said it and it kind of caught on!!!If everyone knew this it would'nt take long ;soon they would'nt be allowed to call on anyone.Then they'd just stop calling and think armageddon was SO closethey get all excited; then i recon we'd see some great entertainment!

Darn Smurfs
by SoulJah inany one remember the smurfs; especially that evil papa smurf?.
the cong i attended even gave a talk about their evilness.. roumor was one even animated itself [little plastic figure] inside the k-hall.. this led to my sister having to get rid of her smurf collection.. i'd have to say though at that time it made me happy ;being she .
got 2-3 new smurfs every week, and they woldn't even ever buy me a hotwheels car

I Don't Sympathise With Suicides
by Englishman inlet me explain.. firstly i have seen any number of so-called attempted suicides.
i've walked past an old girl friends house, seen her watching tv through the window, by the time i'm knocking on the door she's told me that she had her head in the gas oven and my knock stopped her.. my mother in law walks into the sea for a pastime.
every time she can't get her own way she walks in up to her knees and waits for someone to see her.

did it help you to be told by so called friends, 'just pull your socks up!

Suicide; i have had experience of it with others many times;usually due to childhood experiences.To feel the need to end your life is quite often simply the way a human will deal with a situation or psycological trauma that is simply too much for that individual to cope with; hence, shut down to protect the brain from any more.My brother pulled himself back also three friends.When the shut down reaction occurs it can only be halted if the person can find a way out.Sometimes a board like this could help; but as we are only untrained friends perhaps whilst offering support unconditionally and speedily; we should also have a SAMARITIANS phone no. on every header,as i do feel the sound of a soothing human voice so much more calming than words on a screen. Also, it's such a horrendous feeling to see a poster talking suicide; it panics me , but as i said im untrained and may say the wrong thing...perhaps we could have a perminant piece on the board ;clearly marked so that suicidal posters can go to it and read where to go; what to do;but it'd have to be written by profs... i can ask a friend whos a samaritains councellor or another who's a doc to write an appropriate piece; though i'd neen help to get it on the board in the right place! Or failing all that if you all think they're crappy suggestions... if its a uk poster i'll meet them with someone prof. if they want; just can't bear to think someone could be that low with no one.

Worried about my Dad in hospital :(
by Simon inwe visited angharad's parents at the weekend and got a call on sunday night from her sister who'd been called by my sister as they hadn't been able to contact us .... the message was not a happy one:.
my dad has had a heart attack and was in intensive care in hospital.. it was a while before i managed to speak to anyone over there with people probably out but i eventually spoke to his wife who says he's doing ok and has now been moved to the main ward but is being kept in as you would expect.
he may have to be moved to calgary for some investigation / tests.. he had heart surgery about 15 years ago and i think 4 of his 5 bypasses have failed so he has to take quite a bit of medicine for pain and stuff.

Simon,; hi, what a nice bloke you must be... thinking of their feelings at such a stressful time... so ,so, sorry to hear about your dad, have been in similar situation, and i'd go with them; everything else kind of pales into insignificance at times like this, it'll be fine, and nice for your dad to see a 'complete' family with him too ,maybe?? all the best and love to your familyXXXXX

Why hang on in there??
by KenUK innot been posting on this board too long, but started my ex jw internet excursion with the philia group back in 1995 (thanx alanf:-)).. not wishing to poke anybody in the eye but i'm curious at those mails i've read where some of you guys are hanging in on there (from where i sit) under the jw tag.
by that i mean you've clearly identified you've not attended meetings, have no intention of going to meetings, maybe (albeit under the jw rules)in a d/a or d/f situation, but laying low.. geniunely interested in why - i got d/f by banging on the elders door (metaphysically speaking) and sitting through a judicial to get out properly.. maybe 33 years as jw straight off (18 years under hillary step formula:-))skewed my thinking, but just curious....

I'm hoping this will work; my messages won't post lately... i'm not exactly 'hanging in there' but you have to realise that friends are friends, what ever their religious views. i'm trying to tell as many as i can. all i know, and until they turn on me i will continue to chat when i'm paid a visit.these are people, well some of them, that i truly love, i don't want to be a shit and ignore them, when the time comes and all i say sinks in i'm sure they'll run anyway ,but for now i'm just away but approachable...(unless your'e one particular basterd elder... i'll get you mate...my time will come...)
